Phoenix Seeds bases in Jiuquan (39.40 N & 98.30 E) which is a very important seed production center in Northwest China Gansu Province. It belongs one of the major cities along the Hexi Corridor which covers major cities beginning at Wuwei (370 N & 102.30 E) then all the way to Jinchang (38.20 N

| & 102.10 E), Zhangye (38.60 N & 100.20 E), Jiuquan, Jiayuguan (39.40 N & 98.10 E), Yumen (39.40 N & 97.30 E) and finally ends at Dunghuang (40.08 N & 94.41 E). Our production area basically covers the whole territory of the Corridor but majority is in Jiuquan and Zhangye. The Corridor has a dry climate with plenty of sunshine, strong radiation and a big difference in diurnal. In Jiuquan, the annual average temperature and rainfall is 8.5℃and 85 mm respectively. Though the weather is extremely dry, melting snows from the Qulian Mountain provide continuous clean water for irrigation. The very dry summer offers ideal and reliable conditions for producing high-quality and disease-free seeds of wide range of crops such as squash, watermelon, tomato, pepper, lettuce, garland, coriander, radish, brassicas etc. On the other hand, the inland severe winter provide a good environment for those biennial crops such as carrot, celery, leek, beet and onion which require very deep vernalisation for even bolting. The altitude range is between 700 meters to 2500 meters, which further gives diverse micro-climate for different plant genera. For instance, the high elevation near mountain is perfect place for cool-loving crops such as brassicas, spinach, peas and many other flower crops. In contrary, places locating at low-altitude combining desert-isolated are ideal for crops like all kinds of cucurbits which prefer hot condition. |
